Unarian Math

First Appearance and Context

Named alongside the Decenarian and Centenarian communities when the concent’s river-bank bastions opened their gates during Apert. The same waterworks that charge the gate mechanisms also form part of the physical barrier between the Unarian and the Decenarian Math.

Roles/Actions and Affiliations

  • Initial community for new Avout: many spend at least a year under its Discipline before moving on to a decennial cohort in the Decenarian community.
  • Rare early advancement: exceptional One-off cases may pass through a connecting labyrinth directly to the Decenarian side.
  • Gate association: linked to the Year Gate, which opens on an annual cycle and is also called the Unarian Gate.
  • Part of the Concent of Saunt Edhar and participates in the shared rites and openings observed there.

Relationships

  • Order/identity: resident community for the Unarians.
  • Counterpart community: closely tied to the Decenarian side by both the labyrinth connection and recurring graduations at Apert.

Descriptions/Characteristics

  • Boundaries and works: ponds, canals, and fountains fed from the upstream aqueduct form part of the barrier between Unarian and Decenarian areas within the concent.
  • Gates and mechanism: one of the outer-wall bastions houses the gate for this community; it is actuated by water-driven machinery synchronized to the great clock.

Current Status/Location

Active within the concent during the current Decennial Apert, with members expected to advance into the Decenarian cohort as usual. Specific leadership, layout, and census have not been described.
