Onali

First Appearance and Context

Onali is introduced at the Concent of Saunt Edhar during Apert. She first appears incognito as a visitor touring the Hylaean Way, then later the same day is seen in the chancel at Provener wearing the purple robes of the Inquisition, where she is identified—together with a male colleague, Varax—as one of two Inquisitors visiting the concent.

Roles/Actions and Affiliations

• Inquisitor affiliated with the Inquisition. During the tour, while still presenting as an ordinary visitor, she participates in a discussion about Deät and Hylaea and then reframes the exchange by noting recent talk about the Warden of Heaven. Later she appears formally in the Mynster as one of the visiting Inquisitors.

Relationships

• Varax: Traveling colleague and fellow Inquisitor; they are recognized together in the chancel.
• Avout guide: Prior to being recognized, she and Varax converse at length with the tour guide from the concent.

Descriptions/Characteristics

• Female; described as being in her fifth decade of life. While incognito she dresses for commerce and wears a lanyarded flasher, and later appears in purple Inquisitorial robes. Her tone during the tour is moderating and diplomatic, smoothing an increasingly pointed dialog.

Present at the Concent of Saunt Edhar during Apert and seen at Provener in the Mynster chancel with Varax. Her specific mission has not been stated.
