Inquisitors

First Appearance and Context

At the Concent of Saunt Edhar (Concent of Saunt Edhar), two visitors were recognized as Inquisitors during services in the Mynster. Their presence coincided with a period of heightened scrutiny, and shortly after the Evocation of a fraa (Voco), the pair departed by aerocraft from the plaza before the Day Gate.

Roles/Actions and Affiliations

Inquisitors are officers of the Inquisition. They travel among concents to keep practice uniform and to enforce the Discipline. Descriptions within the maths credit them with the ability to place a concent on probation with restricted provisions and, if necessary, to carry out a more thorough clean‑out. Institutionally, many roving Inquisitors are said to be promoted from the Warden Regulant branch, and reporting runs to the Primate.

• Institutional: Work within the framework of the Inquisition alongside Wardens Regulant, and interact with the Primate and local hierarchs as part of routine oversight.

Descriptions/Characteristics

• Public appearance: During rites, visiting Inquisitors have been seen in purple robes with distinctive hats; they may also move incognito among visitors before revealing their role.
• Conduct: Treated by avout as a routinized, bureaucratic presence rather than a lurid tribunal; they make inquiries, observe practice, and may consult with local offices.
• Communication and logistics: Avout speculate that orders can be relayed rapidly via the Ita (Ita); departures and arrivals have been observed using aerocraft.

Current Status/Location

At Saunt Edhar, two Inquisitors were present during the opening and subsequently departed soon after the Voco noted above. No further actions by Inquisitors are currently recorded at this concent.
