Fendant Court

Fendant Court is a named level within the Mynster at the Concent of Saunt Edhar, associated by name and usage with the Warden Fendant. It lies above the Regulant court and below the high works that lead toward the Starhenge.

First Appearance and Context

The court is encountered while ascending from the Regulant level toward the upper works. Access involves crossing an interior bridge beyond a locked portcullis into the Regulant court, then following its inner walkway to stairs that rise to the Fendant level. From nearby, a statue of Amnectrus marks a point of “safe ground” above, and the way continues outward toward the named overhang elsewhere called Warden Fendant's Ledge.

Roles/Actions and Affiliations

  • Serves as the Warden Fendant’s level within the Mynster; members of that staff routinely move through it in the course of their outward‑watch duties.
  • Functions as a throughway between the inward‑facing Regulant court below and the stairways that continue upward toward the upper works and the starhenge.
  • Operationally, it adjoins muster rooms used to brief and equip squads; storage lockers here hold sealed metal boxes of munitions. Ahead of a formal aut, Fraa Delrakhones personally swept the level and ordered it cleared so he could be the last to depart.
  • In-narrative usage includes calling it “Warden Fendant’s court.”

Relationships

  • Office association: closely tied to the Warden Fendant and his staff, who maintain the outward watch from the Mynster’s heights.
  • Vertical neighbors: immediately above the Regulant court (the domain of the Warden Regulant) and on the approach to the chronochasm and rooftop.
  • Building context: part of the upper galleries of the Mynster within the Concent of Saunt Edhar.

Descriptions/Characteristics

  • Layout and circulation: a balcony level with inner walkways; from here, stairs continue both upward and downward. Approach from below includes an interior bridge and controlled gatework before the ascent from the Regulant level.
  • Ornaments and memorials: the level is furnished with busts and statues of past figures. Notably, a life‑sized bronze of Amnectrus—named as a Warden Fendant at the time of the Third Sack—shows him kneeling behind a parapet and sighting along a long rifle. The pedestal doubles as his sarcophagus; the rifle and the pool of spent cartridge cases are described as actual relics.

Current Status/Location

Active and trafficked; used by hierarchs on the Warden Fendant’s staff for routine movements and as a staging corridor between the Regulant level and the stairs that lead onward toward the upper works and the starhenge.
