Fraa Ostabon

Fraa Ostabon is an avout seen among the fids at the Concent of Saunt Edhar. In a tightly packed discussion in Saunt Grod's chalk hall, led by Grandsuur Tamura, he is called on (as "Fid Ostabon") and gives the class's clearest description of the Temnestrian Iconography.

First Appearance and Context

Ostabon appears during a lesson on the recurring "iconographies" that Sæculars use to imagine the mathic world. With the full crop of fids gathered, he answers Tamura's question about the Temnestrian Iconography, describing it as a two-phase caricature: first portraying avout as comical oddities, then revealing a darker second phase in which contact with avout is blamed for seducing the young, unhinging a responsible parent, or leading a public figure into folly. The session concludes with permission for the crop to go extramuros during Apert.
