Decenarian Math

First Appearance and Context

Decenarian Math is one of the maths within the Concent of Saunt Edhar, presented as the home of the Decenarians. It is closely tied to work and rites in the Mynster, with the great clock and its mechanisms providing the setting for daily life and major observances.

Organization and Affiliations

  • Residents are Decenarians (also called Tenners). Locally, the community is organized into chapters; the Edharian chapter is referenced in formal proceedings.
  • The order of the New Circle has members among the Decenarians.

Roles and Activities

  • Avout here follow the mathic Discipline and take on practical duties associated with the Mynster, including scheduled teams that wind the clock and work on the bells and their changes.
  • The precinct maintains carefully limited contact with the outside world, with movements timed to the clock and gateworks.

Evocation (Voco)

During a Voco aut in the Mynster, the Sæcular Power may call named Decenarians out of the math. In one such ceremony, multiple names were read at once, including members of the Edharian chapter and a Decenarian of the New Circle; the Evoked departed immediately under the rite’s solemn forms.

Current Status

The Decenarian Math continues to serve as the seat of the Decenarians within the concent, participating in bell-ringing, clock maintenance, and formal rites in the Mynster, and remaining subject to summons through Voco when called.
