Grandsuur Tamura

Grandsuur Tamura is a senior Grandsuur at the Concent. She has long residence in the math—seventy-five years are noted—and is portrayed as exacting and unsentimental in her teaching.

Teaching and duties

She convenes all thirty-two fids in a small chalk hall named for Saunt Grod to conduct a review of the Iconographies and their origins. Tamura deliberately keeps the group in the tight space so no one can hide inattention. She corrects usage (insisting on "Saeculars" rather than "extras") and questions fids in rapid succession—beginning with Fraa Erasmas and later calling on others including Tulia, Lio, Ostabon, Dulien, Olph, Jesry, Halak, Branch, and Ala. The discussion ranges across several named iconographies and their relative dangers; by the end, the class has identified the Moshianic as particularly perilous in practice. Her session, requested by the Warden Fendant in response to rising attention outside the walls, specifically addressed expectations tied to the Warden of Heaven. Peers later refer to this preparation simply as Tamura 'drilling' them the previous night, underscoring its intensity.

Tamura leads this session at the request of the Warden Fendant, after the hierarchs become aware of a surge in attention from extramuros tied to current iconographic expectations.

Earlier observation

Prior to this lesson, she is seen standing watchfully near the Refectory exit as Tenners carry their bowls toward the kitchen, a presence that draws glances during preparations around Apert.

She is also seen traveling by punt along the river inside the grounds with Grandsuur Ylma; nearby avout keep a low profile until they have gone by.

Description and demeanor

Tamura is consistently referred to as "she." Her manner is direct and no‑nonsense; she rolls her eyes at rhetorical flourishes ("Spare me the poetry") and presses for precise answers. She chooses surroundings purposefully, favoring conditions that keep pupils attentive.
