Overview

Sammann is an Ita technician from the Concent of Saunt Edhar. He is tied to rooftop instruments and photomnemonic handling and, following recent Evocations, travels with an avout Peregrin group.

Appearance and Traits

• Identified by Ita attire (notably a tall black stovepipe hat) and a careful, procedural manner.
• Technically adept with devices and data; uses syntactic processing to clarify images and a portable terminal (“jeejah”) to look up references.
• Pragmatic about orders and information handling; he explicitly cites the absence of any security instruction when explaining why he kept a copy of a retrieved image. He also shows self‑protective caution, describing the copy as “leverage,” and expresses concern about what authorities might do to him.

Roles and Actions

• Rooftop maintenance and access: performs routine service around the starhenge and is trusted to retrieve and handle photomnemonic tablets.
• Tablet retrieval and copy: on a hierarch’s order, he recovered a tablet from the Telescope of Saunts Mithra and Mylax. He states he made a personal copy before delivering the original, later showing the image to avout preparing to travel.
• Image work: applies syntactic de‑blurring to the tablet image and, from the instrument settings, provides a size estimate for the imaged object. He also helps others notice structural details present in the image.
• Relay and disclosure: reports that an Ita reticule relay carried an instruction from the Sæcular Power to inform a cosmographer—bypassing hierarchs—which led him to alert Fraa Orolo. He later made his possession of information noticeable in a deniable way.
• Travel support: joins the Peregrin cohort organized by Fraa Erasmas; helps navigation by consulting maps and references, and alerts companions that their driver is in contact with a Bazian monastery on a nearby mountain. While lodged at a retreat center there, he patches his terminal into the local communications system.

Relationships

• Works in proximity to and later informs Fraa Orolo of the sky‑borne object; cooperates with Erasmas’s mixed group while observing the spirit of the Discipline.
• Interaction with outsiders: rides with local drivers and keeps a wary eye on competing agendas; he notes that secular contacts and religious hosts may have aims separate from the avout’s.

Current Status

Traveling extramuros with an avout Peregrin group, temporarily lodging at a Bazian retreat center before continuing toward isolated mountains to seek a reclusive avout. He remains cautious about his role in the chain of disclosures and the possible consequences.
