Millenarian Math

Overview

The Millenarian Math stands on its own crag within the Concent of Saunt Edhar. It is the home community of the Thousanders, set apart to the east of the Mynster yet connected to it by a long, covered stair. In the hall, the Millenarians have a screened portal onto the chancel, and their singing is noted for deep bass.

Notable Features

  • Subterranean repository: Described by a Thousander as a cavern in the rock that contains the Sæcular Power’s nuclear waste, stored in cylinders dating to the Reconstitution. Condensation forms on the ceiling; to protect the containers from corrosion and stalagmites, thatched roofs are maintained over the cylinders.
  • Millenarian Gate: The math is associated with the Millenarian Gate situated up the mountain above the main complex.

Associations

  • Residents: Community and residence of the Thousanders within the concent.
  • Place among the Three Inviolates: Counted alongside Saunt Rambalf and Saunt Tredegarh in references to three Thousander maths that were not breached in earlier sacks.

Recent Activity

  • Narrow red beam from above: The math was illuminated by a grainy, ruby‑colored light falling from the sky. Millenarians raised smoke and steam so that observers could trace a narrow red beam striking roofs and parapets up to a fast‑moving red point aloft.
  • Evocation and farewell: During a nighttime rite in the hall, a Millenarian elder was named among those to depart, and the community answered with a resonant farewell.

Status and Access

Active and inhabited. The math stands apart on its crag and is approached primarily via the covered stair descending to the hall’s southeast corner.

Summary:
