Overview

Fraa Criscan is a Hundreder avout of the Concent of Saunt Edhar. As part of a small Peregrin detour to seek Orolo, he rides with companions and then hikes from the village of Samble toward the summit of Bly’s Butte with Fraa Erasmas and Lio. Earlier he relayed the group’s working label “the Cousins” for the visitors’ craft and offered straightforward rotation estimates; on the ascent he turns discussion into a calca about polycosmic models, reflecting Edharian interests.

Appearance and Traits

• Identified as an Edharian Hundreder; described as the youngest of the Hundreders present in the traveling party.
• Analytical and precise: comfortable with back‑of‑the‑leaf calculations and quick to frame ideas as a calca; careful about terms like “cosmos” versus “causal domain.”
• Matter‑of‑fact and somewhat literal in tone; focuses on what seems relevant to current aims.

Roles and Actions

• Peregrin travel and hike: Walks the road from Samble up toward the top of Bly’s Butte with Erasmas and Lio while the rest of the group remains below.
• Calca on Complex Protism: On a silted stretch of road he sketches a directed, acyclic diagram to explain a “Complex” variant of Protism, in which information may percolate one‑way through multiple cosmi, rather than a simple two‑box picture.
• Teacher–fid link: States that he was the fid of Fraa Paphlagon; he asks after Orolo’s reputation and compares Paphlagon’s.
• Rumors and later recollection: Acknowledges talk about a long‑standing tradition called The Lineage focused on the Teglon; some critics use it to frame accusations about Edharian priorities. The narration later recalls Criscan’s account in that sense, preserving it as rumor and debate rather than settled fact.
• At Orolo’s cloister: After the group enters a small, improvised math where Orolo had lived, Criscan later departs with Estemard toward a village picnic while others finish their business.
