Plenary

A Plenary is a full‑assembly session held during a Convox, convening the entire gathering for a single, high‑visibility exchange. At the Concent of Saunt Tredegarh, Plenaries are staged in the vast Unarian nave and are conducted as live dialogs rather than prepared lectures. A designated Interlocutor (commonly called a “loctor”) leads the exchange, posing questions gathered from interested parties and pursuing lines of inquiry with the guest.

First appearance and context

During the ongoing Convox at Tredegarh, a Plenary was convened to hear an eyewitness account of the Visitation of Orithena. Fraa Lodoghir served as loctor, and Fraa Erasmas appeared as the witness. The loctor formally opened the assembly and framed the discussion; the nave quieted as the exchange began.

Format and staging

  • Venue: The Unarian nave at Tredegarh, large enough to hold the entire Convox along with some visiting Sæcular officials.
  • Setup: Temporary newmatter scaffolds support a raised platform so those in back can see; riggers hang a large speely projection screen and harsh lights, and microphones are clipped to the speakers’ bolts.
  • Presentation: A live speely feed magnifies the stage for the whole nave. The loctor signals the beginning of the Plenary; at the end the microphones are cut, the screen goes dark, and crews dismantle the temporary stage.

Purpose and conduct

  • Function: To brief everyone at once, test claims against evidence, and surface questions from across the Convox.
  • Style: Extemporaneous dialog steered by the loctor; the tone can range from collegial to adversarial. Audience reactions are audible from the nave and can influence the flow.
  • Example topics: At Tredegarh, discussion centered on the Visitation and what could be responsibly inferred from it. Assertions and counter‑assertions were aired, with emphasis from some participants on sticking to evidence.

Roles and affiliations

  • Loctor (interlocutor): Opens, frames, and questions.
  • Guest/witness: Provides firsthand experience or specialized knowledge.
  • Attendees: The assembled Convox, including avout of many orders; some Sæcular officials may be present and engage afterward.

Status

Active and in use at Tredegarh as a primary forum for Convox‑wide briefings and dialogs.
