Chosen One

Definition

In the Kelx faith, the Chosen One is the prophesied creator who will bring forth a world that is perfect. Kelx teaching, as described in a sermon, holds that if such a world is made, not only that creator and world but all other worlds and their creators (beginning with the Condemned Man) would be saved recursively.

Context and Usage

• Kelx (also called the Triangle faith) explains reality through a triad: the Condemned Man (creative but flawed), the Magistrate (judgment and goodness), and the Innocent (inspiration). The Chosen One is framed as an eventual culmination of that inspiration working through people.
• Clergy (magisters) present the Chosen One as a practical exhortation: adherents (Kedevs) should act to make the world better so that, when their story is under the Magistrate's scrutiny, their choices help justify continued existence. In one shipboard service, a magister pressed congregants to account for "what you have done lately to save the world", and linked present urgency to signs and portents in the heavens and to the fate of the Warden of Heaven.
• The same sermon described inspiration from the Innocent as "viral", passing from the Condemned Man to everyone; within this view, each person can create a world of their own, and one day a Chosen One will do so perfectly.
