Second Advent

The Second Advent refers to the second major arrival of the rebuilt ship Daban Urnud in a new Narrative, specifically its contact with Laterre, the world Arbrans long labeled “Antarct.” In testimony given during protected discussions, a visitor from Laterre explained that Urnudan and Troän peoples shared the vessel by this time and had set course together for Laterre after their earlier contact with Tro.

According to that Laterran account, each “Advent” denotes a drawn‑out era—ranging from a few decades to a couple of centuries—during which the ship remains bound up with the destination world. The Second Advent on Laterre is described as less ruinous than the first era on Tro, but still transformative: the ship was rebuilt again, wars were fought, and existing political and religious orders did not survive unchanged. In the usual pattern, some inhabitants of the visited world eventually joined the crew before the vessel moved on.

Relations reported around this era place Urnud and Tro in alliance as the Pedestal, with Laterre internally divided and Fthos on the opposing side. Practical limits shaped the ship’s refits as well: peoples of different worlds required separate foodstocks due to incompatible biochemistry.
