Zenith Mirror

The Zenith Mirror is a small instrument mounted on a low pedestal beside Clesthyra’s Eye on the roof of the Pinnacle within the Starhenge. In all‑sky images captured through Clesthyra’s Eye, the mirror’s pedestal appears as a distinct notch near the edge of the sky disk, providing a convenient reference point when reviewing the view.

First appearance and context

It comes into notice during analysis of a photomnemonic tablet that recorded continuous images from Clesthyra’s Eye. In those images, the pedestal of the mirror marks a fixed location next to the Eye, and its presence helps establish orientation while panning and zooming through the fisheye projection.

Roles and usage

  • Fixed reference near the Eye: Serves as a nearby, unchanging feature that helps observers get their bearings in the all‑sky view.
  • Routine maintenance: The mirror is kept spotless; an Ita technician is observed visiting the rooftop to clean the zenith mirror and the Eye’s lens with spray and cloth.

Relationships and setting

  • Location: Stands immediately adjacent to Clesthyra’s Eye on the Pinnacle, the highest point of the rooftop complex.
  • Maintenance: Upkeep is performed by the Ita; one such technician, Sammann, is linked elsewhere with procurement of precision parts for the concent’s mechanisms and is seen tending rooftop optics.

Description

  • Form: A compact, low‑mounted mirror on a pedestal situated next to the Eye’s housing.
  • Visual signature in recordings: Registers as a dark, narrow notch against the bright sky disk in the Eye’s fisheye images.

Current status

In place on the Pinnacle and maintained as part of the rooftop instruments. It remains a visible, stable feature in recordings from Clesthyra’s Eye, assisting orientation during review.

Summary:
