Saunt Zenla's Chalk Hall

Saunt Zenla's Chalk Hall is a compact teaching and collaboration room within the Cloister at the Concent of Saunt Edhar. Traditionally, it is reserved for the most senior Edharian theoricians when working together or instructing advanced students of the Edharian Order.

Description and Use

  • Very small and old in style; the room centers on a single low table, large enough for at most four avout to sit around on their spheres.
  • Lighting is commonly provided by clustered glow‑buds. Writing materials (blank leaves, manuscripts, pens, and ink) are laid out for close work and transcription.
  • Its size and quiet make it suitable for private meetings in addition to instruction.

Notable Activity

  • The room has been used by a hierarch of the Warden Regulant and an assistant scribe to conduct a formal interview with an Edharian avout, with shorthand notes taken on prepared leaves. This illustrates the hall’s role as a controlled, discreet setting when Regulant business requires privacy within the Cloister.

Context

Other chalk halls at this concent include Saunt Grod's Chalk Hall and the larger Saunt Venster Hall.

Summary:

One of the smallest and oldest chalk halls within the Concent of Saunt Edhar, used by senior Edharian theoricians for collaboration or advanced teaching; it has also been used by Regulant staff for private interviews.
