Orb 5

Orb 5 is one of the sixteen rotating habitation spheres (“orbs”) that make up the Orbstack at the living heart of the starship Daban Urnud. It is marked with a large numeral “5” in the Urnudan script and identified as the Troäns’ forward‑most orb. Reports indicate that Orb 5 houses high‑ranking Troäns.

Placement and role

• Arrangement: The Orbstack is organized as four stacks of four orbs. Orbs One through Four are associated with Urnudans, Five through Eight with Troäns, Nine through Twelve with Laterrans, and the remaining four with Fthosians. By convention, the lowest‑numbered orb in each stack (here, Orb 5) is reserved for the highest‑ranking members of that people.
• Nexus: Orb 5 connects to the forward Nexus where the four head‑of‑stack orbs (1, 5, 9, and 13) meet the Core for transit and coordination.

Access and structure (as observed)

• A dedicated tubular shaft links Orb 5 to the Core. Passage is controlled by a large spherical “ball valve” that can open a full‑diameter tunnel or close it off entirely. When closed, single‑person airlocks around the valve allow limited traffic.
• Within the orb, gravity is provided by rotation; the inhabited worldlet sits below an oculus at the top of the sphere.

First noted context

Orb 5 was first identified visually when a covert team approached the ship’s interior from the rubble‑shield side. The orb swung past rapidly, its numeral visible, and was noted as the Troäns’ high‑status habitat.

Status

Operational within the Orbstack; no direct interactions inside Orb 5 have been reported to date.
