Edharian Cloister

The Edharian cloister is a cloister within the Concent of Saunt Edhar, serving the local Edharian Chapter. In keeping with a math’s central cloister, it provides covered walkways and a garden lawn for circulation and quiet conversation, with gravel paths where avout pause to sketch ideas. It sits near the chapter house and large chalk halls used for study and Lucubs.

Appearance and Setting

• Garden lawn and gravel paths suitable for strolling and impromptu discussion.
• Adjacent to the Edharian chapter house and a notably large chalk hall whose slate walls carry current calculations.
• A lawn lies between the Edharian cloister and the Eleventh Sconic cloister, used informally as shared open ground.

Roles and Activity

• Everyday use as a central passage and contemplative space typical of a cloister, linking nearby halls.
• Hosts or adjoins Lucubs, with groups stepping out into the cloister for privacy or fresh air.
• Serves as a vantage for watching the sky; on one occasion, avout gathered on the lawn between cloisters to look for a change in the visitors’ Hedron.

Status

Active and frequented by Edharian avout. It functions as a calm hub for movement between chalk halls and as a convenient meeting and observing place day and night.
