Orb Eleven

Orb Eleven is one of the sixteen rotating living spheres in the Orbstack aboard the Daban Urnud. It belongs to the Laterran stack and is inhabited by Laterrans.

First appearance and context

• Noted during movement between neighboring Laterran orbs: after recovery in a Laterran hospital in the next orb over, travelers rode a cable-chair up to the portal into Orb Eleven, crossed its houseboat mat, and continued on toward the adjoining Laterran sphere en route to a larger gathering.

Key relationships and affiliations

• Part of the Laterran stack (Orbs Nine–Twelve) within the Orbstack.
• Joined to adjacent Laterran orbs by sealable portals; when maneuvering is not underway, portals are opened to allow routine passage, aided by cable-chair systems.
• Populated and administered by Laterrans; routine travel from here proceeds “up” toward the Core via portal shafts and ladders when needed.

Important actions and context so far

• Served as a transit leg for Arbran and Laterran escorts moving between Laterran spheres toward ceremonial proceedings elsewhere in the ship.

Description and characteristics

• Shares the common Orbstack design: rotation provides pseudogravity; each orb’s inner surface is half water and half “sky.” Houseboats are lashed together into a continuous mat, with decks and terraces intensively cultivated. Portals appear to “hang” in the firmament and are reached by cable-chair lines from the boats below. Light captured on the exterior is piped inward via optical fibers, creating a moving "sun" across the painted sky.

Current status

• Functioning Laterran habitat sphere within the ship’s Laterran cluster; no specific incidents have been described within Orb Eleven beyond its role as a thoroughfare during formal movements.
