Jesry's Clock

Jesry’s clock is a prototype timekeeping and triggering apparatus conceived by Fraa Jesry and built with sustained hands-on help from Cord. Set on the summit of the new island that will serve as the headquarters for the emerging Magisterium, it provided a reliable noon signal for the cornerstone ceremony and actuated the release mechanism at the appointed moment.

First appearance and context

  • Introduced during preparations for the laying of Saunt Orolo’s cornerstone on the island formed within the crater lake.
  • Built to ensure a precise midday trigger for the “Day Zero, Year Zero” inauguration.

Description and characteristics

  • Installed at the island’s highest point; described as already “ticking” while still early in its development.
  • Uses a parabolic mirror—ground locally—to cast a bright solar spot across a synthetic-stone slab toward a sacrificial element (a wire) placed in its path.
  • The setup drives a physical trigger line running downhill from the clock site to the ceremony area.
  • Intended as an interim, working instrument; Jesry outlines a far more elaborate “real” clock that will take generations to complete.

Important actions and use

  • As the bright spot advanced, the trigger system drew taut; at the chosen instant a mechanism released and the cornerstone dropped cleanly into place amid general applause.
  • Jesry requested prayers from any Deolaters present that the contraption hold together until the moment—underscoring its prototype status.

Key relationships and affiliations

  • Designer/lead: Fraa Jesry.
  • Principal collaborator: Cord, who gathered tools and assisted through multiple build–break iterations.
  • Operational setting: the island construction for Saunt Orolo’s community under the Second Reconstitution.

Current status

  • Operational as a functional prototype on the island summit; intended to be refined over time alongside plans for a long-term, monumental clock.
Summary:

A working prototype timepiece devised by Fraa Jesry and installed atop the island being developed for Saunt Orolo’s community. It marked noon and successfully triggered the dropping of the cornerstone during the inaugural aut, while a more ambitious long-term design is envisioned.
