New Circle

First Appearance and Context

The New Circle is cited among avout as a coeval current with the Reformed Old Faanians. Locally at the Concent of Saunt Edhar, it is part of the standing mix of orders recruiting after Apert and is later named explicitly when its First Among Equals speaks with a Tenner ahead of Eliger. In local recollection after the Third Sack, space was made for a New Circle chapter alongside a Reformed Old Faanite chapter. In the period following the close of Apert, repeated Eliger auts add several members from the Tenner cohort to the New Circle, including Ala and Lio.

In a later public address, Fraa Paphlagon remarks that Fraa Orolo might just as well have joined the New Circle, underscoring the order’s standing among principal options of that era.

Affiliations and Structure

Important Actions

  • During a later rite of Voco, multiple names are called at once; among them, a Decenarian member of the New Circle (Ala) is named and departs under the rite.

Descriptions and Characteristics

No formal doctrine, founders, or distinctive garb have been described so far. The order keeps a visible sense of ceremony: for example, an aged firkin of wine was decanted into engraved silver thimbles presented “from our chapter house.” In discussion of ideas, some members characterize the Hylaean Theoric World as superstition; avout who find that concept meaningful may keep such talk private in mixed company.

Current Status/Location

Active at Saunt Edhar. The order continues to receive vows at Eliger, uses its chapter house as a gathering point, and is frequently invoked in community talk alongside the Reformed Old Faanians.
