Suur Esma

Suur Esma is a Valer associated with the Ringing Vale. At the Concent of Saunt Tredegarh, she is identified among the Valers assigned to a departing cell during the large evacuation. Companions recognize her as the one who danced across the plaza in Mahsht to charge a sniper during an earlier street crisis.

• On the rubble shield of the Daban Urnud, executed an Emergence with the Ringing Vale cohort: from a spread line, went prone and used cold‑gas thrusters to glide headfirst over the facet toward the World Burner. Esma and her teammates vectored toward different parts of the complex to attempt covert boarding. Moments later, lights flared at the site and a silent shock passed through the frame; a teammate inferred the propellant tanks had been blown. The ship’s response escalated while the rest of the cell moved to seek air and ingress elsewhere.
• Coordinated strike and hostage seizure: As part of the same action, three pre‑planted shaped charges detonated on the World Burner, destroying the primary detonator, inertial guidance, and propellant tanks. Osa had displayed a fourth charge on a conference‑room window to compel access. After Esma entered through an airlock and kept her suit on, she gathered the Geometers present into the conference room, locked the door, and welded it shut using Saunt Loy’s Powder. Osa then joined her with the remaining charge; together they sealed and welded the vertex’s access doors isolating it from the rest of the ship, and used the final charge to vent most of the vertex to space, leaving only a small room with air.
• Final holdout: With suit air exhausted, Esma and Osa holed up in one of the few rooms that still had atmosphere and held out for two days while the situation elsewhere in the vertex deteriorated.

Status

Killed when ship personnel breached the sealed vertex and vented the remaining atmosphere; Esma and Osa died by sudden decompression. In the same broader engagement, Suur Vay was killed in a fight on the structure and Fraa Gratho was struck by debris and killed.

Remembrance

• After the fighting, the remains of the four Valers—Osa, Esma, Vay, and Gratho—were preserved. Arbran negotiators secured that the bodies be treated as sacred and handed over to their delegation rather than dissected.
• At the opening ceremonies on the Daban Urnud, her coffin was carried in formal procession alongside those of her cohort around a meeting pool in a residential orb, where representatives from both sides publicly honored the dead before the transfer.
